A Virginia native, Indigo began her musical journey at just nine years old, first exploring piano and drums in her church community. It wasn’t until high school that she discovered her voice on the saxophone, and from that moment, everything shifted. While attending Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, VA, she became a key part of the “Special Forces” marching band, serving as both first snare on the drumline and saxophone section leader. Over four years, she performed in parades and events across the Hampton Roads area, building a strong foundation in musicianship, leadership, and discipline.

She continued her studies at Tidewater Community College, performing with the Blue Moon Jazz Ensemble and appearing in productions such as the Rock ‘N’ Jazz Spectacular and the TCC Neon Festival. After graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2021 with an Associate of Fine Arts in Music, she transferred to Norfolk State University to pursue a Bachelor of Music in Music Media.

At Norfolk State, Indigo studied under Professor Stephanie K. Sanders and performed with the renowned Spartan Legion Marching Band as part of the M.A.N.I.A.C.S Saxophone Section. She was also a member of the NSU Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo, where she continued to refine her artistry. During this time, the NSU Jazz Ensemble was selected to perform as part of the opening act for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra during the Virginia Arts Festival HBCU Jazz Competition, led by Wynton Marsalis. Prior to her university studies, she also developed her jazz voice under the mentorship of saxophonist Martin Blockson. Indigo graduated Magna Cum Laude from Norfolk State University in December 2023.

Since then, Indigo has continued to grow her presence as a performing artist. She was featured on WAVY TV 10’s Hampton Roads Show – Live Music Friday on April 25, 2025, sharing her sound with a regional audience. In early 2026, she opened for R&B legends Christopher Williams and Michel’le at the historic Roger Brown’s in Portsmouth, VA—marking another milestone in her journey.

Inspired by artists like John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Ledisi, India Arie, and Braxton Cook, Indigo Celeste continues to evolve as a multi-dimensional artist. Through her God-given gifts, she creates music that doesn’t just resonate—but restores, uplifts, and connects.
